An Ideal Tablet

I am thinking of  buying a tablet these days so decided to pen down a post of all the features I need in "an Ideal Tablet ". So lets think of a normal day in my life. Since I am a student I have to wake up early in the morning to go to college. Hence as soon as I wake up and touch my tablet, it should tell me about my lecture schedule. Also, I should be able to read high definition e-newspaper on its wide screen to know about the latest advancements(specially in the technical world).

Now when I leave my home to catch the cab it should fit easily in my bag and should also be easy to be handheld. As soon as I enter the cab I put on my headphones and start listening to my favorite soundtracks during the one hour cab journey to college(Yes its a bit far from home!). So the tablet should have a loud, rich, and clear audio output preferably Dolby or Skull candy. The tablet should have at least a 12 hour battery backup so that I can listen to songs and also browse the internet whenever I want during the day.

During college, the tablet is always in my hand to capture any important (Read funny!) moment with friends. Hence the tablet should have at least a 5 MP camera to capture good quality images and I should also be able to upload it to Facebook through the college WiFi. So, the wireless speed of the tablet should be able to handle all that. During class lectures sometimes I don't feel like writing notes as it's boring and I am hell of a lazy person. So, the tablet should record whatever my teacher says which I can listen later and revise whatever happened in the class. For this the tablet should have expandable memory till 32 GB at least as many audio clips and photos have to be stored on a lazy day!

After a stressful day at college, on the way back home in the cab, I usually watch sitcoms to unwind. Hence the tablet should have a high resolution HD video display. During night before going to bed I should be able to set reminders for the next day through voice commands as I don't feel like typing when I am sleepy. The voice recognition should be fast, and accurate.

So in a nutshell, the "Ideal Tablet" should be convenient to use while being handheld or while placed on the table. It should have a high resolution display for watching movies or listening to music. Last but not the least,
it should be the perfect companion to entertain and to communicate with.

Google Dorks

How often does it happen that you want an eBook to pass the test next day or a PowerPoint presentation to show to your boss urgently? The answer is obvious, almost every day. But like everyone else, you end up searching for hours and then arrive at your required result after scanning numerous links. Here comes Google Dorks to your rescue.
Google dorks are nothing but simple search operators that are used to refine our search. Let us take an example if you want to search eBook on ‘networking’, your obvious search queries would be like this "Networking eBooks" or  "free eBooks for networking" etc, We keep going into the websites, clicking on link after links and then get proper downloading links. Now we do same thing using Google dorks and it filter the specific result which we want, type on Google "ext:pdf networking" (without quotes) and see the magic.
Here’s a list of some most widely used Google dorks to help you get along with their basic use.

DORK NAME
DORK USE
DORK EXAMPLE
Site
Returns the websites of specified domains
Site:wikipedia.org hacking
Intitle and allintitle
It restricts the results to pages whose title contains specified word/phrase.
Intitle:confidential
Inurl
It restricts the results to sites whose URLs contains specified phrase.
inurl:adminlogin
 Related
It returns the websites similar to specified websites.
related:www.homeshop18.com
Cache
It returns the cached webpage that is kept with Google. This dork is useful very when actually the website is down and you can still view its contents (from cached pages).
cache:www.explorehacking.com
Ext
It specifies the extension .You can use filteype at place of ext.
ext:ppt hacking

You can use multiple dorks in a single search query for example “site: gov inurl: adminlogin” followed by your search keyword. This will return the results having government sites and the phrase ‘adminlogin’ in the URL.
There are many more advanced dorks for you to explore. So keep adding to the above list and start using Google in a more efficient way and impress your friends, teachers or boss with your quick and accurate search results.

The Perfect Vacation

The phrase Perfect vacation for me means my car, my destination, and the people with me should be the ones whom I consider as the best thinkers and from whom I want to ask a hell lot of questions. Now you must be wondering who are these people. The people are Steve Jobs(founder of Apple), Mark Zuckerberg(Facebook founder) and Osama Bin Laden(Al Qaeda). I know these three are all from different fields but there's one thing common between them. All three of them are/were the best in their fields and that's what I like about them. One is the best thinker, other is the creator of the best social networking website and the third one is the best and the most dangerous terrorist the world has ever known. Now the car for the destination must be some jaw dropping, breath taking and electrifying. There's one and only one machine which can handle all the three parameters and that's the Rolls Royce Ghost. So now the people and the car are all set to go, but where to go! Now the toughest part of the vacation is deciding the destination. Lets amake the decision easy. There's no destination! Yes you heard it right there's no destination, and we are gonna take turns and proceed ways as per our random selection along the way. Deciding a destination for those people who decided the future of technology is an insult to their always unpredictable and ever expanding mindsets. Hence the destination will be a surprise to be decided by the travellers themselves. Now the journey starts from New Delhi with all the extraordinary personalities looking at each other and having straight faces. Althogh Steve and Mark knew about each other but Mr. Bin Laden is someone they have just seen on the television under the 'Most Wanted' tag. I asked them for drinks and Steve and BinLaden opted wine, while Mark settled for a beer. The conversation began by Mark askin Bin Laden how he was successful in evading the FBI and coming on this journey with us. He replied that he just thought like an FBI officer and listed all the places where FBI could find him and planned his route avoiding all those places. Then Bin Laden told Mark how he faced problems while trying to create a Facebook account as his name was rejected and he was repeatedly prompted to choose a different name as it offended the moral conditions of the website. Steve gave a faint smile and after thinking a little, he suggested to change the name to Mr. Terrorist or something like that. The conversation continued for sometime. Till that time we reached the Delhi beach and came out of the car to enjoy the sea and sand. Steve quickly came out of the car on seeing the nearby seafood stall. Prawns and tuna were ordered even before we all came out. Mark ordered a lemonade and Bin laden just went towards the sea to enjoy the waves which were just like him. They were low all day long but their intensity was unpredictable. The same was with Bin Laden as he looked as simple as a seaside wave but we all k ow what was his limit to rise and cause destruction. After eating seafood Steve also came to the seaside and started telling us about the yacht he was building and how it was different and had features never before seen in any yacht. After about two hours we walked back and went inside the car to go to Las Vegas casinos to get the money rolling. We entered the casino and started purchasing coins for slot machines and tokens for gambling. Steve walked to the token machine while rest three of us went to card games. Steve could understand the pattern these slot machines used to decide the fate of the players. Me and Mark walked to the tables to play poker and bin Laden stood in the corner silently watching everyone around. It was just fifteen minutes ago that we saw Steve going to the slot machine and suddenly we heard someone screaming out of happiness. I turned back to see it was Steve. His slot machine screen displayed "1 Million". Steve had won the jackpot. We all were amazed to see a man could jugde the probability of a slot machine in fifteen minutes. Then me and Mark left our game and went with Steve to celebrate. Finally we reached the Malibu Club. It was the most happening place of that area. Vodka shots were ordered to start the party. Then came the beer pints and the whiskey pegs. Finally we all were high and chose to stay at the club. So that's hiw I spent my vacation with three great personalities.

Examify: A brilliant idea!

I recently saw the following video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=88IJCKhsCTE

Its a video about an 18 year old guy called Angad Nadkarni. He is a hacker and also knows things about data mining algorithms. Since my interest lies in simplifying education hence I got really motivated with what he's doing these days. He is making an application called Examify which scans the question papers of all the coaching classes, schools ,tuition centers and then uses programming algorithms to take out the pattern for the questions. In short it guesses your next exam paper!! Amazed?

I was wishing if these things existed when I was giving my 12th board exams. In a country like India nobody asks you how you did it when you get good marks. All that matters is you got 90 plus in boards. Nobody feels the need to ask about interests and paths that we wanted to take. They just see our academics and labels us intelligent or idiot. So Examify will make all the students reach closer towards the so called 'intelligent category' and also give them time to pursue their inner calling. The students will just study the important questions and have time for extracurricular activities.

For all the features see the link to the complete video.

Living without gadgets for 4 days

I just came back from Jim Corbett National Park (Uttarakhand) and I am feeling charged up and refreshed like never before. The reason behind this is that the resort where I was staying had no Wifi connection. When we just reached the resort I switched on Wifi in my phone and to my horror the phone displayed, 'No Wifi detected. Please try again".As per the instructions I tried again but of no use. The harsh reality was that THERE WAS NO Wi-Fi in the resort. Soon I went to sleep and woke up to go around and see the place. I felt an unlikely interest from somewhere within me to go out and be close to nature. As soon as I stepped out of the hotel, a cold breeze of air touched my face and it felt so nice. Delhi never gave such an experience. I continued walking and saw our flora and fauna dancing in the winds around me, as if inviting me to look more and more at them and feel the heavenly climate without the distractions like WhatsApp, email of facebook. After sometime I started walking back to the resort and reached my room in around half an hour. I felt so energised and close to nature. I could feel being surrounded by mother nature. I didn't even look at my phone and just went at my room's window. The scenic beauty aroused me to a point that I forgot all the technology in the world and felt close to nature. The next day I went for a Jungle Safari. I took my camera instead of my phone to capture the photographs as I was least interested in my phone at that time. It felt more like a useless distraction between me and nature. The monkeys I saw there were more amusing than the monkeys running behind us in TEMPLE RUN. On my return to my hotel room I was thinking that while living in cities we tend to forget the pleasure and calmness in living nearby mother nature. All we care about is our job, our grades, our marks, and all the competitive things in the world. We run so much behind objectives that we forget to walk slowly and steadily.
Nature teaches us that there's a different world that exists but is only visible if we respect it's pace and slow our lives down for sometime and live in the moment, not ahead of it.

Comparison Kills the Sense of Achievement

The 10th and 12th board results came out this week and I am NOT HAPPY. No, I didn't give the exams this year (I passed 12th last year), but the thing that makes me unhappy is the wave of comparison that sets up just nanoseconds after the results are out. Aunts, uncles, neighbours and all sorts of people found on earth just have one question. I would have been happier if the question was,"What is your result?",but, strictly opposite to me,the most important question is,"What is your friend's/cousin's result?".

Legs may help you to climb mountains but what one really needs is a Heart

Hey Readers,
Alloyed Universe is back as my end sems have ended.  :)

I was reading the newspaper and I suddenly came across this news which motivated me to the core. So I decided to share it with all of you. 21st May 2013 at 10:55 am maybe an ordinary time for all of you but for Arunima Sinha, it was a life changing moment.
That's because she climbed the Big Daddy of all mountains, 'The MOUNT EVEREST' with an AMPUTATED LEG. Here goes the story...

Two years ago she was travelling by a train when suddenly some local goons tried snatching her chain. When she overpowered one of them, the goons overnumbered her and threw her out of the moving train. She was badly injured and during her treatment doctors had to amputate her right leg to save her life. Just after getting discharged from the hospital she made a decision which most people won't dare to make. She decided to climb the Mount Everest. She left Lucknow and came to Delhi to get the training. She was trained for over an year by none other than Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to climb Everest. Finally on 1st April she started her expedition to the 8848 m long Mount Everest with Susan Mahto, a mountaineer from Jharkhand with whom she successfully scaled the 6622 m Mount Chhamsher Kangri in Ladakh in 2012. On May 21 2013 Arunima Sinha was on top of the world i.e. Mount Everest.

This story tells us that no matter what, life must go on. Life is not about one unfortunate incident, it's about the way you recover after that and tell it back to life that,"Do anything to me but I won't lose.Instead I will shine above everything."

Stay motivated.

Importance of Doing Nothing (Occasionally Of-course)

I was just sitting today after a long period of time, maybe some 2 months or so, doing the work I think I should do more often. The work about which I am talking about is doing NOTHING! Yeah, you heard it right,"nothing". Doing nothing and just lying down when you know some things can be done tomorrow is amazing. It needs some planning although. Like I have 2 days for my C project and I know I can make it work it one day so I just decided to do nothing today and just watch other people around me doing some work or the other. Don't take this post as a list of excuses to be a lazy ass! I am not telling you to stop working. I am just telling you that don't just follow all the routines. Random relax sessions are good too if you can plan well. Don't just leave all the work for the last day, instead divide the month's schedule in a way that you can have just ONE DAY,just one single day, to do nothing. It has many benefits.

1. First of all, it makes you used to planning better and saving a day from work.Hence you can rest at the cost of becoming a better planner. Basically a win-win situation for you.

MBA: Learning Business or just WASTING MONEY

Higher education is costlier than ever, and in today’s job scenario, it doesn't always guarantee a return on your investment. This especially applies to the so called MBA(Master in Business Administration). Here’s why:

1. MBAs no longer make sense financially. Many people say they want to do MBA for money. But decreasing pay packages for MBA graduates combined with skyrocketing tuition fees mean they aren't experiencing the kind of financial rewards they once did. While students coming out of top U.S. MBA programmes in the mid-1990s saw their salaries triple in just five years, graduates leaving the exact same programs in 2008 and 2009 saw that pay cut spike in half. Meanwhile, MBA students in 2012 paid 62 percent more in fees compared to

The Candle Flames Failed Under Drops Of Lust

The candle flames failed under drops of lust.
She lost to a system that couldn't be just.
Had he seen his mother carrying him in his infancy
A voice could have said
"She is the bearer of a family
A colour that paints the canvas of life
A daughter who dresses to become just like her mother
One who serves her family as a wife."
But cries are unheard in this world
where spirit is buried under a so called existence
A rich person commits crime and is acquitted in days four or five.
She ,yes she who suffers ..she who is ostracized for rest of her life.
I beg to accept them again and give them their right to cheer
For I know my voice squeaks and my city still reels under a fathom deep fear.

PLEASE SHARE and condemn the recent wave of women exploitation in our city

Main Bhi Farhan Quereshi : A Craze To a Maze In Indian Education System

Hey people, this one's a post from someone who has been my friend, philosopher and guide from a very long time. I look up to him. His name is Aditya Sinha and he studies at DTU. Here it goes..

Main Bhi Farhan Quereshi : A Craze To a Maze In Indian Education System

Its not even when a child is born aspirations of college thunder up over the entire family. Ofcourse who doesn’t remember “Mera Beta Farhan Quereshi Engineer Banega”. Farhan was just a generalization of a million budding engineers and doctors whose fates are sealed with their thoughts.Rat-race starts here and the Pied Piper of pay packages drives them to  a cliff – IITJEE or DPMT or CATE or CAT whichever  version you prefer.Result is the same –some cross it (by some I mean a very few) while others are –BORN LOSERS,RETARDS,NOT-MEANT-FOR STUDIES…and numerous hindi  dictionaries mention them as LAFANGEY.

Asking One of those who crossed the cliff being a LAFANGA gives me a sigh of relief.Heres a description of what he said :

Sophistication and Real Fun rarely go good together

Hey people. I just decided to write on my experience of watching a T20 cricket match between Delhi and Chennai at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium last night. Dad had arranged VIP box tickets for the first time and being a middle class family, all the males were excited to go there. We hired a cab as Dad didn't want to drive after coming back from a tiring day at office for the evening match. We reached the stadium at sharp eight o clock after surpassing all the security checks. As soon as we entered the first ball was bowled. After grabbing the seats and watching the first ball we realised that we forgot to notice the luxurious treatment around us.Unlimited food and beverages being served by a five star caterer. Our box had limited seats and the people seemed sophisticated and simple. We had food, drinks and VIP box, still something was missing. And that was the zeal, the enthusiasm, the excitement, the hooting, the cheering. All this was deeply missed by me and my cousin. Suddenly I saw the other stand below us and felt envious of the ambience down there. They were ordinary middle class people like us, but they had something that neither money nor the VIP pass can buy. They  were having the REAL FUN out there hooting for players and standing up after every boundary. And we were among the 'sophisticated' people sitting silently and holding our drinks in our hand. That's when I realised that although being sophisticated is good in daily life but there are some moments in life when you have to go beyond your sophistication and have some real fun and live the moment to the fullest.
So keep in mind the next time you go out anywhere, just be who you are and not what surrounds you. And prefer the quality of real fun over the quantity of money and status. Keep reading and stay simple and happy.

Memories (The dreaded IITJEE)...

8th April... I remember this day very well as last year I gave the most dreaded exam of all, the IITJEE exam on this day only.
I was going to the exam centre with my Dad and there was no sense of fear in me as I thought that I won't be able to make it since you need to be a complete nerd to clear IITJEE, and I was not even close to that.Yet my dad's face reflected a slight hope that maybe his son will clear this exam. It was all because of that hope that I kept my moral high and believed in luck to be strong at that moment. Dad stopped the car as we reached the centre

Engineering Beyond the IITs

"In this world, an ordinary life has become synonymous with a meaningless life."
 - Brene Brown, author of ‘The Gifts of Imperfection'.
If you are doing engineering or you are preparing for the engineering entrance exams, you must have heard the common abbreviation PCM i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. PCM is the only thing in engineering which proves you can be a good engineer. And if you don't know even one of them, all you can do is go to any of the average colleges and prove yourself again and again all because you didn't get admission at the so called ‘BEST COLLEGES'. I never understand what a ‘Best College' is. Is that college the best which gives the highest pay packages to its students by calling the biggest MNC's for placement, or that one which has the best faculty or the one with the largest campus? Ask yourself and ask the people around you. You will not be surprised by the answers as among all the names you'll get to hear, the IITs, NITs, BITS and DTU would be the most prominent among them.   Actually, it's a vicious circle. The big companies have a perception that the graduates from mostly the top colleges are suitable for recruitment. That's why a student who gets admitted to one of them is termed as a good engineer by our society. This perception has a reason too. Your parents tell you to stop living and just study the moment you opt for science and enter into XI standard. That's because marks and grades are the only valid proof of intelligence in our country. Passions and hobbies are only respected when you become a millionaire or a celebrity pursuing them. There's a RACE to get
